FAQ

How much does it cost to distribute a feature film?

Distribution deals typically cost $100,000 to $150,000.

The average cost of a theater is approximately $10,000

Screens are typically around $5,000 in cost.

It means that, if you have 100 screens your distribution fees would be $500,000.

Distributor fees of $50,000 would apply if there are ten screens.

What are the salaries of actors?

The average actor's salary ranges between $1 million and $100,000 depending on whether the film is independent or a movie. Most actors get between $10,000-$20,000 per film. Many actors get no pay. It depends on the actor's success. Some actors make millions while others struggle to find work.

Are Hollywood and Bollywood bigger than Bollywood?

Producing a movie that is well-received by the public is the biggest challenge for film producers.

The problem is that there are many movies competing for people's time and money. And if you don't stand out from the crowd, you won't have much chance of getting watched.

But what makes a movie successful? What makes an actor a star? Or a director? It's not just talent - it's also luck. It doesn't matter if your actors are the best in the world. But a poor script will make you lose everything.

Films can be divided into two categories: blockbuster films with large budgets or independent productions. Production and distribution of blockbuster movies costs hundreds of millions. They are made by huge studios, who want to make sure their movies reach as many people possible. But these big-budget films tend to appeal mainly to older audiences.

Independent films are smaller-scale productions that may have to be financed individually or by groups of investors. These films are often targeted at niche markets and appeal to particular tastes. They are generally less costly to produce and market. But, they aren't necessarily cheaper to view. Many indie films can be difficult to find.

Is it possible to have both types of films? Do we need blockbuster movies, or smaller independent films? Hollywood is much bigger than Bollywood. Hollywood makes almost twice the number of movies each year than India.

How To

How to get your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in 1960 established the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The HWOF can be found at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, California. It is composed of 2,711 stars embedded into sidewalks along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents someone who made motion pictures, television or radio, as well as music and other aspects of popular culture. The HWOF currently lists 1,922 people.

You will need to submit your application to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in order to be considered for membership to the HWOF. Once submitted, your name will be sent to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once approved, you receive a certificate of eligibility, which includes your name, date of birth, city of residence, occupation, and category. You also receive a bronze plaque with your name engraved on it. This plaque is attached to a concrete base located in front of the designated Star.

You can apply for a star if a current member of the HWOF nominated you or if you made significant contributions to movies, television, radio, theatre, music, or something else considered part of "popular culture." A committee reviews the nominations and determines whether they should be approved. If they do so, they send a message to the applicant's address explaining their decision. A second letter confirms acceptance if the nominee accepts the nomination. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce then sends $25 to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues the Hollywood Chamber of commerce a check, payable to it. The check is sent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the artist or organization whose application was accepted. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce then pays half of the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs pays the remainder.

After an artist has received his/her Star, he/she can be eligible for the HWOF. To be listed on the HWOF, you must pay the remaining balance owed to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The amount due depends upon how many years ago your first nomination was. If you were first nominated for a nomination in 1990, your owe $15,000. If you were nominated for the first time in 1990, you would owe $15,000.

You will need to contact Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in order to be removed from the HWOF. They will remove your name permanently from the HWOF list.

How old must one be to get a HWOF star

When nominated, one must have at least 18-years-old. To receive a Star, one must still be living at the time. A star can be renominated after 10 years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

Nominating you can be done by family members. If there are no known living relatives, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place the memorial marker in front of it.

Why can't we just choose a different street and not have stars all over?

The HWOF is not meant to be a historical monument. It honors those who made history through film.

What happened with the stars that were stolen? Around 1,200 stars were taken by the thieves. Each star is approximately 250-300 lbs in weight. That's about 4 tons of stars!
