FAQ
Is Hollywood bigger than Bollywood?
Producers face the greatest challenge of making sure their movie is seen by viewers.
Problem is that many movies are competing for people's money and time. The problem is that you will not be seen if you aren't different from the rest.
What makes a movie a success? What makes an actor famous or a director? Or a director? It's not only talent, but also luck. Even if you have the most talented actors in the world they won't be able to make it work if they write bad scripts.
Two main types exist when it comes down to film: large-budget blockbusters or small independent productions. Production and distribution of blockbuster movies costs hundreds of millions. They are typically made by huge studios who want to ensure that their movies reach a wide audience. But these big-budget films tend to appeal mainly to older audiences.
Independent films, which are typically smaller-scale productions, can be financed either by individual investors or groups. These films are often targeted at niche markets and appeal to particular tastes. They are generally less costly to produce and market. However, this does not mean they are always less expensive to watch. Most indie films are difficult to find.
So, the question is, do we need both kinds of films? What are the best movies for independent cinema? Well, I think that Hollywood is actually bigger than Bollywood. That's because Hollywood produces almost twice as many movies per year as India does!
