Choosing a niche
When you first begin your career, it's easy to get lost in the details of which niche to focus on. YouTube allows you to create content in many different ways. However, the key is to choose the one that interests YOU. You can make a niche lucrative in many ways. For example, you could create a video on travel. This may not prove to be financially viable in the long-term. You might want to be more focused on a particular niche such as technology.
Create a content calendar
It is difficult work to develop a content schedule that you can use to build a reputation for your videos. It is difficult because you will need to plan the topics and the timeframe for your videos. A calendar is useful for launching new products or services. You can create a content calendar for these specific occasions to make your audience aware of what's happening.
Creating helpful videos
Creating a YouTube channel is not a rocket science, but it requires a little bit of effort. You want to create useful videos that can be shared with others. Instead of trying to sell products and get attention, focus on the needs and wants of your audience. Knowing your audience will help you create videos that address their needs. Your current audience will appreciate your videos, as well as new viewers. As you become more familiar with YouTube, your confidence in creating videos will increase.
Identify your competition
To identify your competition, you must first understand their content. This will help you make a more accurate comparison. Your competitors can be divided into two types: indirect and direct. Indirect competitors are those who operate in the same geographical area as you. Direct competitors are those who solve the same problem or serve the same needs. Here are some tips for identifying your competition.

Develop a personal brand
Developing a personal brand is important when promoting yourself on YouTube. Your videos can be a way to enhance your personal branding by giving viewers a sense about your voice, movement, and personality. Decide first how you want to position yourself on YouTube, and then work on implementing that positioning. You can create channel trailers that will attract viewers and convert them in to subscribers. While you may not wish to compete against thousands of other young people in the market, it's possible to make your own channel trailers.

Why don’t more filmmakers use crowdfunding platforms like Indiegogo, Kickstarter, and others?
Crowdfunding websites are great because you can reach potential investors directly.
But most filmmakers don't think they're qualified to ask for money. They feel they need someone else who can vouch for them.
Since they haven’t proved themselves yet, they don’t think anyone should make an investment in them.
Instead, they spend many months working on the project in hopes that someone will notice.
Then they realize that they didn't properly prepare for the launch of their campaign.
They end up with only a few donations, instead of thousands of dollars.
How many movies is Hollywood making in a single year?
Hollywood studios produce around 3,000 films per year. It's true, there are three thousand!
These films are marketed by Hollywood, which spends billions of dollars. They spend millions making them. They also spend millions promoting them. How many of these movies do you think end up in theaters?
Most likely, the answer is around 200-300. So what happens to all those other 2,700+ films? Well, most are either made as direct-to-video releases, or they just sit there gathering dust in storage vaults.
They are not all destined to be overlooked. Some of them have been selected for distribution via Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus, iTunes, Google Play, etc.
Hence, why aren't there more of them? Why aren't they released in theaters? Because they are too expensive to make.
And if they were cheaper to produce, they'd be released into theaters.
