How to get a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce established the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. The HWOF, located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard Los Angeles, California. It has 2,711 stars embedded in the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk. Each star represents someone who contributed to motion pictures, television, radio, theater, music, or some aspect of popular culture. The HWOF currently has 1,922 listed living people.
To become a member of HWOF you will need to submit your name at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. This submits your name then to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once approved, you receive a certificate of eligibility, which includes your name, date of birth, city of residence, occupation, and category. A bronze plaque with your personalization is also provided. This plaque will be attached to a base of concrete in front the designated star.
If a member of the HWOF has nominated you, or if your contributions are significant to films, television, radio or theatre, or any other part of popular culture, you can apply for a Star.
