FAQ

How many films does Hollywood make in a given year?

Each year, Hollywood studios produce approximately 3,000 films. That's right, 3000!

Hollywood spends billions on advertising for these films. They spend millions producing them. They also spend millions on marketing them. However, how many actually make it to the theaters?

It's probably between 200-300. The question is, what happens to all the other 2,700+ films? They are either distributed as direct-to–video releases or simply left in storage.

However, not all of them are unavoidable. Some of them are available for distribution via Netflix and Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus or iTunes, Google Play, and others.

So why don't we see more of them? Why aren't they released in theaters? They're too costly to produce.

They could also be made cheaper and put into theaters.

That's where I come in. I will assist you in finding the best possible method to release your movie in theaters.

I'll show you how to maximize your return on investment (ROI) and increase your chances of seeing your movie in theaters.

Let's face it, we all know...

Getting your film into theaters can be quite difficult. The process is complex, lengthy and involves many legalities.

It may also cost you plenty of money before you even get started.

You have a very short window in which to distribute your film.

There is simply not enough time between the end of a film and when it goes on its theatrical run.

Why is Hollywood so famous?

D.W. Griffith founded the first film industry in California in 1887. It was named in honor of its Los Angeles location, known at the time as "Hollywood".

Because it was such a fascinating place, people kept coming back for more. People came from all parts of the country to see what was going on there.

Hollywood is still a big part of our culture. We have movies and television shows, music videos, commercials and so on. These are all known as Hollywood.

How much does it cost to distribute a feature film?

A distribution deal can cost anywhere from $100,000 to $150,000.

The average cost of a theater is approximately $10,000

The average cost per screen is around $5,000.

It means that, if you have 100 screens your distribution fees would be $500,000.

Your distribution fees would be $50,000 if you had ten screens.

How To

How to get your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

In 1960, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce created the Hollywood Walk of Fame (HWOF). The HWOF is located in Los Angeles at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It is composed of 2,711 stars embedded into sidewalks along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents an individual who contributed to popular culture, such as television, radio or theater. The HWOF currently lists 1,922 people.

You will need to submit your application to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in order to be considered for membership to the HWOF. Once submitted, your name will be sent to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once approved, a certificate will be sent to you stating that you are eligible. This includes your name as well as date of birth and the city where you live. A bronze plaque with your name inscribed on it is also included. This plaque is attached to a concrete base located in front of the designated Star.

You can apply for a star if a current member of the HWOF nominated you or if you made significant contributions to movies, television, radio, theatre, music, or something else considered part of "popular culture." A committee evaluates the nominations and decides whether to approve them. If they do, they send a letter to the applicant's home address explaining their decision. A second letter confirms acceptance if the nominee accepts the nomination. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce charges $25, and then the money is sent to the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Los Angles.

The department issues a cheque payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce. It then sends the check the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays any artist or organization that submitted an application. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce pays half of the $12.50 fee to the artist or organization. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs takes the other half.

After an artist has received his/her Star, he/she can be eligible for the HWOF. To be eligible to list on the HWOF you will need to pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce all outstanding balance. The amount due depends on how many years ago you were first nominated. If you were first honoured in 1990, then you would owe $15,000. You'd owe $10,000 if you were previously nominated in 1990.

If you want to remove yourself from the HWOF, you need to contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and pay off the remainder of your debt. They will remove your name from this list.

How old must one be to get a HWOF star

One needs to be at least 18 years old when being nominated. To be eligible for a star, you must still be alive. One can still be nominated after receiving a star after ten years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

You can be nominated by your family members to receive a star. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce can place a memorial marker next to the star, if there aren't any living relatives.

Why don't people just use a different street instead of having stars all over the place?

The HWOF isn't meant to be an historical monument. It is meant as a memorial to all who contributed to the history of film.

What happened to the stars that got stolen? The thieves stole around 1,200 stars. Each star weighs between 250 and 300 lbs. This makes it approximately 4 tons!
