Henry VIII reign
The financial aspects of Henry VIII's reign are a complex topic. The monarch was an extravagant spender, using revenues from the Reformation Parliament and dissolution of monasteries to fund his lavish spending sprees. He also turned Rome's money into royal revenue. Henry's finances were constantly in peril. Henry ended up having to fight a series unsuccessful and costly wars.
Edward VI's succession crisis
The Tudor dynasty was facing a succession crisis when Edward VI was dying. Edward made plans to amend the father's will regarding succession during this crisis. The Duke from Northumberland was made Lord President and was an effective ruler. By the spring of 1553, Edward was involved in the Government's decisions and had made some plans for succession. The Devise, however, was never officially adopted.

Henry VIII's possession of Ireland
Henry VIII used his power against the Catholic Church during his reign to advance his goals. The Laws of Wales Acts facilitated a legal union of England with Wales. Henry, who was the first English monarch over Ireland, was made the Crown of Ireland Act. Henry was also made the first English monarch and crowned King Of Ireland by the Act. Ireland was previously a papal possession. Henry VIII's dream of a united Ireland was impossible without changes to Parliament. This change reorganized Parliament's roles and set the scene for a clash between Parliament (and the Crown) that lasted until 1866.
Oliver Cromwell attempts to restore England to Roman Catholicism
The Reformation led to the re-establishment of the Church of England, and in 1649 Oliver Cromwell signed King Charles I's death warrant. He was a member of 1649-53, and he ruled the short-lived Commonwealth of England. In 1650, he was selected to command the English campaign against the Irish Confederate and Royalist coalition. The English forces defeated Ireland’s army and occupied Ireland. Here they passed the Penal Laws. The English forces waged war against both the Scottish army and the English in 1650-1651.
George VI's effigy portrait
William Reid Dick, from Scotland, created King George VI's effigy picture in St. George's Chapel at Windsor. Dick created sixteen official portraits for royalty, including George VI's profile. The portrait depicts Queen Elizabeth wearing her diamond necklace. Official currency displays the portrait. They are also displayed in many public places like government buildings and private homes.
