How to get your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce founded the Hollywood Walk of Fame, HWOF (Hollywood Walk of Fame) in 1960. The HWOF is located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. It is made up of 2,711 stars that are embedded in the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk. Each star represents someone who made motion pictures, television or radio, as well as music and other aspects of popular culture. There are currently 1,922 active individuals on the HWOF.
To become a HWOF member, you need to submit a name to Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. They then submit your details to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once approved, a certificate will be sent to you stating that you are eligible. This includes your name as well as date of birth and the city where you live. You will also receive a bronze plaque engraved with your name. This plaque is attached to a concrete base located in front of the designated Star.
