If recent temperatures are any indication, summer is officially here. Summer means summer getaways and pool openings will soon be possible. As much as we might want to hide from the hot sun and wear the tightest clothes possible, some people are just experts at revealing their assets in tight clothing. If you aren't as confident, swimsuits and bikinis might be the right choice.

How many movies makes Hollywood each year?
Hollywood studios produce around 3,000 films per year. That's right, three thousand!
Hollywood spends billions advertising these films. They spend millions to produce them. They also spend millions promoting them. How many end up being released in theaters?
It is likely that the answer is between 200-300. What happens to the 2,700+ other films? Well, most are either made as direct-to-video releases, or they just sit there gathering dust in storage vaults.
Some of them may not be seen. Some of them have been selected for distribution via Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus, iTunes, Google Play, etc.
Hence why don't more of these films be released? Why aren't they released in theaters? They're too expensive.
They could also be made cheaper and put into theaters.
That's where my expertise comes in. I will help you find the best possible way to release your film in theaters.
You'll learn how to maximize your return and increase the chances of your movie being shown in theaters.
Let's face facts...
It can be difficult to get your movie into theaters. The process is complex, lengthy and involves many legalities.
It can also come at a high cost before you even begin.
To make matters worse, the window of time during which you can distribute your film is extremely limited.
There's not enough time between the moment a film is completed and its theatrical debut.
How much of the box office revenue goes to marketing budgets
Marketing budgets usually account for anywhere from 20%-40% of a film's budget. This is because marketing is critical to the success and longevity of any film.
No one will know about your film if you don't do good marketing. If people don't know anything about your film they won't pay to see it.
Why don’t more filmmakers use crowdfunding platforms like Indiegogo, Kickstarter, and others?
Crowdfunding is a great way to connect with potential investors.
However, most filmmakers do not believe they are qualified to request money. They feel they need someone else who can vouch for them.
They don't believe anyone should invest in them, as they have not proven their worth yet.
Instead, they spend months focusing on their project and hoping that someone will notice.
Then, when they launch the campaign, they realize how poorly prepared they were.
Instead of receiving thousands upon thousands of dollars, the recipients end up with a handful donations.
Can I create my own distribution organization?
No. You cannot legally operate a distribution company without being a distributor.
You can't distribute other peoples films but you have to adhere to certain rules.
You can't, for example, charge different prices to different theaters. You cannot also charge different fees to customers.
You also can't sell your services to other companies.
How much does Hollywood earn in a single year?
Production costs on average for a movie are around $100 million. So if you made ten movies a year for a decade, you'd have enough money to buy a small country.
You would own your own island, with an airport, a power plant, a bank, a post office, a police force, a fire department, a school system, a hospital, a zoo, a sports stadium, a theater, and a cinema.
If this sounds like it's not fun, then you might be insane.
Why is it called Hollywood?
The first film industry was founded in California in 1887 by D.W. Griffith. It was named for its Los Angeles location, also known as Hollywood at that time.
It was an exciting place to visit and the name stuck. People would come from all over just to see what was happening there.
Hollywood is an important part of culture today. We have movies. There are also music videos. Commercials. And we call them all "Hollywood."

How To
How to get a Hollywood Walk of Fame star
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce founded the Hollywood Walk of Fame, HWOF (Hollywood Walk of Fame) in 1960. The HWOF, located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard Los Angeles, California. It is made up of 2,711 stars that are embedded in the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk. Each star represents someone who made motion pictures, television or radio, as well as music and other aspects of popular culture. There are currently 1,922 living persons listed on the HWOF.
To become a member of the HWOF, you must submit your name to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which then submits your name to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you are approved, you will receive a certificate of eligibility that includes your name, date, residence, occupation, category, and other information. You also receive a bronze plaque with your name engraved on it. This plaque will be attached to a base of concrete in front the designated star.
You may apply to be a star if you are nominated by a HWOF member or if you make significant contributions to television, radio, TV, theatre, music or other forms of "popular culture". A committee evaluates the nominations and decides whether to approve them. If they do, they send a letter to the applicant's home address explaining their decision. If the person accepts, they will be sent a second letter to confirm their acceptance. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce charges $25, and then the money is sent to the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Los Angles.
The department issues a check payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce, which sends the check to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the applicant or organization. The artist or organization then pays the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce half the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs pays the remainder.
Once an artist has received their star, he/she is eligible to be listed in the HWOF. You must pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce the balance due to be included on the HWOF. The amount due depends upon how many years ago your first nomination was. For example, if you were first nominated in 1990, you would owe $15,000. If you were nominated for the first time in 1990, you would owe $15,000.
If you want to remove yourself from the HWOF, you need to contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and pay off the remainder of your debt. They will remove your name permanently from the HWOF list.
How old is one to be eligible for a HWOF Star?
When nominated, one must have at least 18-years-old. A person must be present at the time of receiving a star. One can still be nominated after receiving a star after ten years.
What happens if I die before my star gets put up?
You can be nominated by your family members to receive a star. If there are no known living relatives, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place the memorial marker in front of it.
Why can't people choose to use a different street than having stars all over the place?
The HWOF is not meant to be a historical monument. It honors those who made history through film.
What happened with the stars that were stolen? The thieves took around 1,200 stars. Each star is between 250-300 lbs. If you add all of the weight together, it comes to approximately 4 tons of stars!
