FAQ
Why is Hollywood calling it Hollywood?
D.W. Griffith created the first movie industry in California in 1887. It was named for its Los Angeles location, also known as Hollywood at that time.
Because it was so exciting to visit, the name stuck. People came from all parts of the country to see what was going on there.
Hollywood is still a part of our culture today. Movies, television shows and music videos are all part of our culture. We call them all "Hollywood."
How many movies makes Hollywood each year?
Hollywood studios produce about 3,000 films each year. It's true, there are three thousand!
Hollywood spends billions on film advertising. They spend millions to produce them. They also spend millions on marketing them. However, how many actually make it to the theaters?
It is likely that the answer is between 200-300. The question is, what happens to all the other 2,700+ films? They are either distributed as direct-to–video releases or simply left in storage.
But not all of them are destined to go unseen. Some of them are available for distribution via Netflix and Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus or iTunes, Google Play, and others.
Why don't they get more? Why aren't they released in theaters? Because they are too expensive to make.
And if they were cheaper to produce, they'd be released into theaters.
I can help. I can help guide you in the best way possible to put your movie in theaters.
I will show you how to maximize the return on your investment (ROI), and increase your chances of seeing your film in theaters.
Let's face facts...
It can be challenging to get your film into theaters. It is a complex, long-winded and complicated process that requires a lot of legalities.
It may also cost you plenty of money before you even get started.
Even worse, your window of opportunity to distribute your film is very limited.
There isn't enough time in between the time a movie is finished and when its theatrical run starts.
How many theaters will I need to return my investment?
It all depends on how long your theatrical release will be running.
If your film is going to be run for less then two weeks, one theater will suffice.
You will need at least two theaters if you plan to keep your film running for more than 2 weeks.
What is the difference between a producer and a distributor?
The movie is produced by a producer. The movie is distributed by a distributor. A distributor can distribute the movie to theaters or other companies such as Netflix. Distributors purchase movies directly from producers. They then make them available for sale to theaters as well cable channels and streaming services.
Distributors must negotiate with theater owners where their movies will be shown. This means that some theaters might charge more money for a certain movie than others. You should select a distributor that has multiple theaters if you want your movie seen as much as possible.
Hollywood became famous because of its fame.
It was easy. They took risks and did something different to make it popular. They had the fortitude to make films that would remain in people's minds for years.
They were also willing to try out new ideas.
