FAQ

How much does Hollywood earn in a single year?

It costs about $100 million to make an average movie. For a decade, ten movies would be enough to produce enough money for a country.

Your island would be yours, complete with an airport, power plant, bank, post office, police force, fire department, school system, hospital, sports stadium, theater, and cinema.

If that doesn’t sound like fun, you must be insane.

What is the average number of movies Hollywood makes in a year?

Hollywood studios produce around 3,000 films per year. Yes, that's correct, three thousand!

Hollywood spends billions advertising these films. They spend millions creating them. They also spend millions on marketing them. However, how many actually make it to the theaters?

Most likely, the answer is around 200-300. So what happens to all those other 2,700+ films? Well, most are either made as direct-to-video releases, or they just sit there gathering dust in storage vaults.

However, not all of them are unavoidable. Some of them have been selected for distribution via Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus, iTunes, Google Play, etc.

Why don't they get more? Why aren't they released in theaters? Because they're too expensive to produce.

If they were more affordable to produce they would be released into theaters.

That's where I come in. I will help you find the best possible way to release your film in theaters.

I will teach you how to increase your return on investment (ROI), as well as increasing your chances of seeing the movie in theaters.

Let's face the facts...

It can be difficult to get your movie into theaters. The process is complex, lengthy and involves many legalities.

You may end up spending a lot of money before you get started.

The time frame in which your film can be distributed is also very limited.

There is not enough time to wait between the completion of a film and its theatrical release.

Why do so few independent films ever get distributed?

Indie filmmakers often assume that distributors will pick up their films.

Because the film is loved by the public, they believe distributors will be interested in it.

But this is rare. Distributors often profit from independent filmmakers.

They will use techniques such as delaying the release of a movie until after the awards season has ended.

They may delay the release of a low budget film until after summer blockbuster season begins.

Distributors may also keep films from the public until people have already spent hundreds of money on tickets, popcorn or candy.

After all, they don't want to lose out on those profits.

Is Hollywood larger than Bollywood?

Film producers face the greatest challenge: how to get their movie noticed by the audience.

Problem is that many movies are competing for people's money and time. And if you don't stand out from the crowd, you won't have much chance of getting watched.

But what makes a movie successful? What makes an actor famous or a director? Or a director? You need to have talent but also luck. It doesn't matter if your actors are the best in the world. But a poor script will make you lose everything.

And when it comes to films, there are two main types: big-budget blockbusters and small independent productions. Blockbuster movies cost hundreds of millions of dollars to produce and distribute. They are typically made by huge studios who want to ensure that their movies reach a wide audience. But these big-budget films tend to appeal mainly to older audiences.

Independent films are usually smaller productions that can be funded by investors or individuals. These films focus on niche markets or cater to particular tastes. These films are typically less expensive to produce and sell. They aren't always more affordable to watch, however. Most indie films are difficult to find.

We need both types? Do we need blockbuster movies, or smaller independent films? Hollywood is more important than Bollywood. Hollywood makes almost twice the number of movies each year than India.

Why is Hollywood so famous?

D.W. Griffith established the first film industry in California, 1887. It was named for its Los Angeles location, also known as Hollywood at that time.

Because it was such a fascinating place, people kept coming back for more. People would travel all the way from other countries to see what was happening.

Today, Hollywood is still very much part of our culture. We have movies, television shows, music videos, commercials, etc. And we call them all "Hollywood."

Can I form my own distribution business?

No. Without being a distributor, you cannot legally establish a distribution company.

You don't have to distribute films from other people, but you must still follow certain rules.

You can't, for example, charge different prices to different theaters. Also, you cannot charge different fees to different customers.

Other companies cannot also sell your services.
