What's the difference of an indie movie and a foreign-language film?
A filmmaker typically makes an independent film. This is because he or she makes every decision.
On the other side, a foreign-language film is normally produced by an even larger production team.
They often hire actors, writer, and directors from abroad.
Professional translators are also available to ensure that the dialogue sounds natural.
Why is Hollywood calling it Hollywood?
D.W. Griffith founded the first film industry in California in 1887. It was named for Los Angeles, which was at the time called "Hollywood."
Because it was an exciting area to visit, the name stuck. It attracted people from all over the world to check out what was happening.
Hollywood is an important part of culture today. We have movies and television shows, music videos, commercials and so on. These are all known as Hollywood.
What is the difference between a producer and a distributor?
Produced by a producer, the movie is produced. The movie is distributed through a distributor. Producers can sell their movies directly to theaters, distributors, or other companies like Netflix. Distributors acquire movies from producers. They then make them available for sale to theaters as well cable channels and streaming services.
Distributors have to negotiate with theater owners over where their movies should play. This means that some theaters may charge more to see a certain movie than others. A distributor should have multiple theaters in order to ensure that your movie is seen by as many people possible.
Why are so few independent films ever distributed?
Most indie filmmakers assume that their films will get picked up by distributors.
Because they are confident that the public will love their film, they believe distributors would be willing to buy it.
But this is rare. Independent filmmakers are often used by distributors.
They might delay a film’s release date until after the awards show has finished.
They may delay the release of a low budget film until after summer blockbuster season begins.
Distributors are also trying to keep films off the streets until audiences have already spent hundreds upon thousands of dollars on tickets or popcorn.
They don't wish to lose those profits.

How To
How to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce established the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. The HWOF can be found at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, California. It is made up of 2,711 stars that are embedded in the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk. Each star represents a person who has contributed to television, radio, theatre, music, motion pictures, or any other aspect of popular culture. There are 1,922 individuals currently listed on HWOF.
To become a member of HWOF you will need to submit your name at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. This submits your name then to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once approved, you receive a certificate of eligibility, which includes your name, date of birth, city of residence, occupation, and category. You also receive a bronze plaque with your name engraved on it. This plaque is attached on a concrete base at the star.
You can apply for a star if a current member of the HWOF nominated you or if you made significant contributions to movies, television, radio, theatre, music, or something else considered part of "popular culture." A committee evaluates the nominations and decides whether to approve them. If they decide to approve, they write a letter to the address of the applicant explaining their decision. If the person accepts the nomination, he/she receives a second letter confirming acceptance. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce then sends $25 to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.
The department issues a cheque payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce. It then sends the check the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays artists or organizations whose applications were accepted. The fee is then paid to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce at $12.50. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs gets the rest.
After an artist has received his/her Star, he/she can be eligible for the HWOF. To be eligible to list on the HWOF you will need to pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce all outstanding balance. The amount due is dependent on the number of years since you were first recognized. For example, if you were first nominated in 1990, you would owe $15,000. You would be responsible for $10,000 if you had been nominated previously in 1980.
You can remove yourself from HWOF by contacting the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to pay the rest of your debt. They will remove your name from this list.
How old does one have to get a star on the HWOF?
You must be at the least 18 year old to be nominated. To receive a coveted star, one must be at least 18 years old. After receiving a star, one may still be nominated again after ten years.
What happens if I die before my star gets put up?
Nominating you can be done by family members. If there are no known living relatives, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place the memorial marker in front of it.
Why not just have stars on every street?
The HWOF is not meant to be a historical monument. It is meant as a memorial to all who contributed to the history of film.
What happened the star thefts? The thieves stole around 1,200 stars. Each star weighs approximately 250-300 pounds, which equates to 4 tons of stars.
